Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Installation

CAUTION:

Use a new bolt and self-locking nut. For parts which are not reusable, refer to “COMPONENT”. General Description > COMPONENT

1. Install the cradle to the vehicle body.

(1) Raise the cradle with the transmission jack.

CAUTION:

The cradle is heavy. Raise it carefully by paying attention to the balance.

(2) Install the bolt to the front cushion rubber and the bolt to the front of the cradle.

Tightening torque:

Front suspension-related parts: General Description > COMPONENT

(3) Install the left and right bolts and nuts.

Tightening torque:

Front suspension-related parts: General Description > COMPONENT

2. Remove the shackle and sling belt.

3. Install the tie-rod end.

Tightening torque:

Steering gearbox-related parts: General Description > COMPONENT

4. Install the front arm.

Tightening torque:

Front suspension-related parts: General Description > COMPONENT

5. Install the stabilizer link rod. Front Stabilizer > INSTALLATION

6. Install the front exhaust pipe.

H4 model: Front Exhaust Pipe > INSTALLATION

H6 model: Front Exhaust Pipe > INSTALLATION

7. Install the power steering connector.

8. Install the nuts connecting the main mount and the transmission mounting bracket.

Tightening torque:

Front suspension-related parts: General Description > COMPONENT

9. Remove the ST, chain sling and shackle.

10. Remove the ST for the engine hanger from the engine front side. (H4 model)

11. Replace the ST with the engine hanger attached to the engine. (H6 model)

12. Change the hood stay location to support the front hood at ordinary position.

13. Install the air intake boot assembly.

H4 model: Air Intake Boot > INSTALLATION

H6 model: Air Intake Boot > INSTALLATION

14. Install the air intake duct. Air Intake Duct > INSTALLATION

15. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. NOTE

16. Install the universal joint assembly - steering. Universal Joint > INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

Always tighten the cradle and engine mounting before tightening the universal joint assembly - steering.

Always install the universal joint assembly - steering after installing the steering column to avoid damage to the universal joint assembly - steering.

Be sure to follow the tightening order and tightening torque of the universal joint assembly - steering to avoid the steering effort from becoming heavy. After confirming that the steering column position is in the neutral position, tighten the universal joint assembly - steering.

Always place the tilt lever to the lock position after the steering column is adjusted.

17. Install the under cover - front. Front Under Cover > INSTALLATION

18. Install the front wheels.

Tightening torque:

120 N·m (12.2 kgf-m, 88.5 ft-lb)

19. Inspect the wheel alignment and adjust if necessary. Wheel Alignment > ADJUSTMENT

CAUTION:

When the wheel alignment has been adjusted, perform the following adjustment.

Lane keep assist learning value clear (model with EyeSight): Clear Active Lane Keep System Learning Value > OPERATION

VDC sensor midpoint setting mode: VDC Control Module and Hydraulic Control Unit (VDCCM&H/U) > ADJUSTMENT

20. Perform reinitialization of the auto headlight beam leveler system. (Model with auto headlight beam leveler) Auto Headlight Beam Leveler System > PROCEDURE
