Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Removal

CAUTION:

Before handling the airbag system components, refer to “CAUTION” of “General Description” in “AIRBAG SYSTEM”. General Description > CAUTION

1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE

2. Using the refrigerant recovery system, discharge refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery Procedure > PROCEDURE

3. Drain the coolant from the radiator.

H4 model: Engine Coolant > REPLACEMENT

H6 model: Engine Coolant > REPLACEMENT

4. Disconnect the hose - pressure suction and the pipe - evaporator cooling.

CAUTION:

Seal the disconnected hose, pipe and engaging part of expansion valve with a plug or vinyl tape to prevent foreign matter from entering.

(1) Disconnect the connector.

(2) Detach the clips and bolts, and detach the hose - pressure suction and the pipe - evaporator cooling.

5. Loosen the heater hose clamps and detach the hoses.

NOTE:

Put alignment marks to hoses, clamps, etc.

6. Remove the instrument panel assembly and the beam COMPL - steering. Instrument Panel Assembly > REMOVAL

7. Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly.

(1) Remove the clips, and remove the duct - console front.

(2) Remove the hose - heater drain.

(3) Turn over the floor carpet and remove the slide lock of the duct - rear heater.

(4) Remove the bolt and remove the heater and cooling unit assembly.

8. Remove the blower motor unit assembly. Blower Motor Unit Assembly > REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Do not detach the immobilizer control module except when replacing the blower motor unit assembly.

Replace the air duct cover LWR with a new part when the immobilizer control module is removed. If the air duct cover LWR is reused, screw tightening force is reduced and the immobilizer control module may be detached due to vibration while driving.
