Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Removal

1. SEDAN MODEL

1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE

2. Remove the rear seat cushion.

CAUTION:

If the hook - rear seat (a) is disconnected from the vehicle body, make sure to replace the hook - rear seat with a new part to prevent the decline of the fixed force of the seat.

(1) Pull up the seat cushion and release the hook - rear seat (a).

(2) Remove the hook (b) of the hinge assembly CTR by pushing it back while lifting the front side of the seat cushion, and remove the seat cushion.

NOTE:

For models with seat heater, disconnect the connector.

3. Remove the bolts, and pull up the side pad assembly - backrest to remove.

4. Remove the backrest assembly.

NOTE:

The backrest assembly can be removed without removing the side pad assembly - backrest.

(1) Pull the release lever in the trunk room, and then tilt the backrest forward.

(2) Turn over the backrest mat, and remove the bolts on the rear side of the hinge assembly CTR.

(3) Remove the backrest assembly from the hinge assembly.

NOTE:

The backrests cannot be detached while pin positions of the hinge assembly and backrests are not aligned.

5. Remove the bolts, and then remove each hinge assembly.

2. OUTBACK MODEL

1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE

2. Remove the rear seat cushion.

CAUTION:

If the hook - rear seat (a) is disconnected from the vehicle body, make sure to replace the hook - rear seat with a new part to prevent the decline of the fixed force of the seat.

(1) Pull up the seat cushion and release the hook - rear seat (a).

(2) Release the hook (b) of the hinge assembly CTR by lifting the front side of the seat cushion while pushing it backward, and remove the seat cushion.

NOTE:

For models with seat heater, disconnect the connector.

3. Remove the side pad assembly - backrest.

(1) Remove the bolts, and pull up the side pad assembly - backrest to remove.

(2) Disconnect the reclining, and remove the side pad assembly - backrest.

4. Remove the backrest assembly.

NOTE:

The backrest assembly can be removed without removing the side pad assembly - backrest.

(1) Tilt the backrest forward, and then turn over the backrest backside mat.

(2) Disconnect the backrest cable and the hold down cable.

(3) Remove the bolts at the rear of backrest hinge.

(4) Remove the backrest assembly from the hinge assembly.

NOTE:

The backrests cannot be detached while pin positions of the hinge assembly and backrests are not aligned.

5. Remove the bolts, and then remove each hinge assembly.

3. BACKREST TILT MECHANISM (SEDAN MODEL)

1. Pull the release lever in the trunk room, and then tilt the backrest forward.

2. Remove the release lever assembly and the lock assembly - backrest.

(1) Disconnect the wire cable from the lock assembly - backrest.

(2) Remove the nuts, and then remove the lock assembly - backrest.

(3) Remove the wire cable holder.

(4) Press the stopper portion (a), and remove the release lever assembly while sliding it forward.

4. BACKREST TILT MECHANISM (OUTBACK MODEL)

1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE

2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Rear Seat > REMOVAL

CAUTION:

If the hook - rear seat is disconnected from the vehicle body, make sure to replace the hook - rear seat with a new part to prevent the decline of the fixed force of the seat.

3. Remove the side pad assembly - backrest.

(1) Remove the bolts, and pull up the side pad assembly - backrest to remove.

(2) Disconnect the reclining cable, and remove the side pad assembly - backrest.

4. Remove the trim panel - rear apron. Rear Quarter Trim > REMOVAL

5. Remove the screw, and remove the lever assembly - rear backrest.

6. Remove the rear backrest assembly, and remove the release button - rear backrest and the remote lever cable. Rear Seat > DISASSEMBLY

5. RECLINING MECHANISM (OUTBACK MODEL)

1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE

2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Rear Seat > REMOVAL

CAUTION:

If the hook - rear seat is disconnected from the vehicle body, make sure to replace the hook - rear seat with a new part to prevent the decline of the fixed force of the seat.

3. Remove the side pad assembly - backrest.

(1) Remove the bolts, and pull up the side pad assembly - backrest to remove.

(2) Disconnect the reclining cable, and remove the side pad assembly - backrest.

4. Remove the lever assembly - rear reclining.

(1) Remove the screw and clamp, and remove the cable connector bracket.

(2) Release the bracket and lever, then remove the lever assembly - rear reclining.

(3) Disconnect the reclining cable.

(1) Remove the outer case (a).

(2) Disconnect the striker cable through the cutout.

5. Remove the trim panel - rear apron. Rear Quarter Trim > REMOVAL

6. Remove the bolts, and then remove the striker - backrest rear.
