Subaru Legacy BN/BS (2015-2019) Service Manual: Removal

CAUTION:

Refer to “CAUTION” of “General Description” before handling the airbag system components. General Description > CAUTION

1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. NOTE

NOTE:

For models with power seat, remove the slide rail installing bolt before disconnecting the ground terminal from the battery sensor.

3. Remove the front seats. Front Seat > REMOVAL

4. Separate the backrest assembly and the seat cushion assembly. Front Seat > DISASSEMBLY

5. Remove the seat cushion airbag module.

CAUTION:

Passenger’s seat cushion airbag module is integrated in the seat cushion pad & frame assembly. Do not remove it unless when discarding the seat cushion airbag module.

If the protection felt for the seat cushion airbag module is broken or damaged, replace the seat cushion airbag module with a new part.

(1) Remove the hook, and remove the pad assembly - front seat cushion and the cover - front cushion.

NOTE:

Turn over the rear side of the seat, and remove the hook on the front side of the seat cushion frame.

(2) Remove the hexagon cap nuts, and remove the power seat control module. (Model with power seats with memory function)

(3) Remove the seat cushion airbag connector clamp.

(4) Remove the nuts and then remove the seat cushion airbag module.

Meaning of pictograms indicated on the label

(a)

Flammable explosive substance encapsulated parts; be careful of handling.

(b)

Indicates that this part is an airbag module.

(c)

Before handling, always refer to “CAUTION” of “General Description” in “AIRBAG SYSTEM” in the service manual.

For the disposal procedures of the airbag modules, refer to “Airbag Module Disposal”.

(d)

Do not disassemble the airbag module.
