CAUTION: • Replace the O-rings on the hose - pressure suction and the hose - pressure discharge with new parts, and apply compressor oil. • If the compressor assembly is replaced, adjust the amount of the compressor oil. Compressor Oil > ADJUSTMENT • After installing the compressor, do not start the engine until the A/C system is charged with refrigerant. • If the engine is started with no refrigerant charge, replace the compressor assembly. 1. Install the compressor assembly. NOTE: Tighten the compressor assembly for H4 model in the numerical order as shown in the figure. General Description > COMPONENT Tightening torque: H4 model: 25 N·m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb) H6 model: 26.5 N·m (2.7 kgf-m, 19.5 ft-lb) 2. Install the hose - pressure suction and the hose - pressure discharge. Tightening torque: 10 N·m (1 kgf-m, 7.4 ft-lb) 3. Install the V-belt cover bracket. (H4 model) Tightening torque: 6.4 N·m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb) 4. Install the collector cover bracket. (H6 model) Generator > INSTALLATION 5. Install the V-belts. • H4 model: V-belt > INSTALLATION • H6 model: V-belt > INSTALLATION 6. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. NOTE 7. Charge refrigerant. Refrigerant Charging Procedure > PROCEDURE 8. After installing the compressor assembly, perform a break-in operation according to the following steps. NOTE: Do not increase the engine speed to and above 4,000 r/min unless the break-in operation finishes. (1) Check that all connectors are locked securely. (2) Reset the control module. (Disconnect and then connect the connector) (3) Attach a delivery (test) mode fuse to the main fuse box. (4) Set the fan dial to MAX (4th position). (manual A/C model) (5) Connect the Subaru Select Monitor. (6) On «Start» display, select «Diagnosis». (7) On «Vehicle selection» display, enter vehicle information and select «Confirmed». (8) On «Main Menu» display, select «Each System». (9) On «Select System» display, select «Air Condition System» and select «Enter». (10) On «Select Function» display, select «Work Support». (11) Select «Variable compressor break-in drive» mode from the work support list, and display «Variable compressor break-in drive finish status» by following the procedure. (12) Start and idle the engine at or below 1,800 r/min. (The compressor operation is automatically changed to the break-in drive mode.) (13) When «Variable compressor break-in drive finish status» changes from «incomplete» > «Finished», stop the engine. CAUTION: If the engine may have been started with no refrigerant charge, check for any diagnosis code (DTC) using Subaru Select Monitor. If the code B14A8 (REFRIGERANT NOT SEALED DRIVE ERROR) is output, replace the compressor assembly. (14) Remove the delivery (test) mode fuse from the main fuse box. (15) The break-in operation finishes. |
