1. Fully open the front hood. NOTE 2. Remove the V-belt covers. 3. Remove the clip (A), and loosen the clamps (B) and (C) securing the air intake boot. 4. Remove the air intake boot from the air cleaner case (rear) and throttle body, and move it to the left side wheel apron. 5. Lift up the vehicle. 6. Remove the center exhaust pipe. Center Exhaust Pipe > REMOVAL 7. Drain engine coolant. Engine Coolant > REPLACEMENT 8. Disconnect the engine coolant hose from the water pipe RH. 9. Lower the vehicle. 10. Disconnect the engine coolant hose (A) and engine coolant hose (B) from the EGR cooler. (CVT model) 11. Disconnect the engine coolant hose from the EGR cooler. (MT model) 12. Remove the bolts securing the EGR cooler to the EGR control valve and the cylinder head RH. 13. Using the ST1, install the ST2 to the engine unit.
Tightening torque: 43 N·m (4.4 kgf-m, 31.7 ft-lb) 14. Support the engine with a lifting device and wire ropes. 15. Remove the transmission mounting bracket RH. 16. Remove the nuts from transmission mounting bracket LH. 17. Remove the front cushion rubber from the front mounting bracket and engine mounting bracket. 18. Temporarily attach ST by using two bolts.
19. Lift up the engine unit high enough to install the bolt and nut. CAUTION: Do not lift up higher than enough level to install the ST to avoid damage to the hoses and pipes inside the engine room. NOTE: If it is difficult to pull out the stud bolt from transmission mounting bracket, slightly shake the engine unit while lifting up. 20. Tighten the mounting bolts on the engine side. Tightening torque: 25 N·m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb) 21. Remove the lifting device and wire ropes. 22. Remove the engine rear hanger. 23. Remove the nuts securing the EGR cooler to the cylinder head RH, and remove the EGR cooler. 24. Remove the gasket (A) from the stud bolt. 25. Remove the engine coolant hose from EGR cooler. • CVT model • MT model |

to deactivate the Vehicle Dynamics Control
system.
The Vehicle Dynamics Control system is
probably malfunctioning under any of the
following conditions. Have your vehicle
checked at a SUBARU dealer immediately.
